Dreaming Now
Dreams serve as a direct line to the unconscious, offering profound insights into the conflicts, desires, and unresolved themes that shape a client’s waking life.
This PCI College workshop offers a bridge between the mysterious world of dreams and the practical reality of the therapy room. By learning to approach dreams with curiosity and respect, you will gain the ability to help your clients decode their own inner symbolism, unlocking deep layers of meaning that can accelerate the therapeutic process and lead to transformative personal growth.Â
Who is this course for?
This workshop is designed for counsellors, psychotherapists, and helping professionals who wish to add a powerful, depth-oriented tool to their existing clinical repertoire.Â
- Counsellors & Psychotherapists:Â Gain a non-intrusive way to access the unconscious material that clients may not yet be able to express verbally.Â
- Depth-Oriented Practitioners:Â Enhance your ability to work with symbols, metaphors, and archetypes in a structured, professional manner.Â
- Students in Training:Â Build a foundational understanding of the role of the unconscious, enriching your overall therapeutic perspective.Â
- Reflective Practitioners:Â Develop your own capacity for symbolic thinking, which is essential for working with the nuanced, “hidden” aspects of client narratives.Â
What are the benefits of doing this course?
This training helps you transform a seemingly abstract experience into a grounded therapeutic intervention, fostering a deeper connection with your clients’ inner worlds.Â
- Clinical Breakthroughs: Utilise dreams to bypass client defences, often revealing the “root” of a problem that isn’t immediately obvious in talk therapy.Â
- Deepened Rapport: Offering a space to explore dreams signals a high level of attunement, which can significantly strengthen the therapeutic alliance.Â
- Enhanced Metaphoric Ability: Develop your ability to think symbolically, allowing you to pick up on the hidden language of client metaphors in everyday speech.Â
- Empowerment:Â Help clients take ownership of their own psyche by learning how to reflect on and integrate their dream material into their daily lives.Â
What will you learn?
The curriculum balances the theoretical foundations of dream work with practical, manageable techniques that you can implement in any session.Â
- Theoretical Foundations:Â Exploring the perspectives of Jung, Freud, and modern dream researchers on the function and origin of dreams.Â
- Symbolic Language:Â Learning how to interpret metaphors, motifs, and archetypes without imposing your own biased meanings on the client.Â
- Practical Frameworks: Structured methods for facilitating dream sessions, ensuring the process remains grounded, safe, and collaborative.Â
- The “Living” Dream:Â How to help clients connect dream content to their current waking challenges, relationships, and emotional triggers.Â
- Experiential Practice:Â Live sessions where you will practice dream-work techniques in a safe, peer-supported environment to build clinical confidence.Â
